From the 19th to the 20th of June 2013, participants from six continents, 24 countries, and 31 organisations gathered in Jakarta to discuss issues pertaining to REDD+ and Green Economy. The event aimed to provide key decision makers with a more informed basis for linking REDD+ planning and investments with green economy efforts and to reflect on lessons learned during pilot activities. The focus was set on the role of comprehensive land-use planning for capturing environmental, economic and social benefits from REDD+ investments. The Global Symposium on REDD+ in a Green Economy was co-hosted by the Government of Indonesia and the UN-REDD Programme in partnership with the United Nations Office for REDD+ Coordination in Indonesia (UNORCID), the World Agroforestry Centre, the Global Green Growth Institute and the Overseas Development Institute.
